I had never been to Elkridge before. It was a place we drove by on the way to Waskesiu. As you probably know, it is just a few kilometres away from Waskesiu. I thought it was mainly a golf resort, so we had never been there since we are not golfers. Boy, was I ever wrong about it! We heard that Elkridge is also a great place to visit in the winter, and we decided to spend a few days there and give it a
try. Long story short, we really enjoyed ourselves! It is a fabulous facility. We stayed in one of the cabins close to the hotel. Our cabin was about a two minute walk along a lovely, lighted path to the main lodge. We had access to the wonderful swimming pool and hot tub, as well as the workout room. The hot tub was my favourite, especially after skiing on the trails through the woods and around the golf course! Besides cross-country skiing, Elkridge offers snowshoe trails and several wonderful skating areas on the frozen slough behind the lodge. They also provide all the equipment for the sports and these are available free of charge in the lobby.
The cabin was great! It had two bedrooms and a large living-dining-kitchen area. It was cozy and warm. There was even a firepit right outside our door. We used it two afternoons and enjoyed sitting outside, feeling toasty by the fire. I highly recommend Elkridge in the winter! However, now my curiosity is piqued. We will have to make a trip there in the summer, too!
