Mary Harelkin Bishop has lived in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan since she was 12 years old and considers herself a Prairie person. Writing has always been a very important aspect in her life. Mary began writing when she was nine years old. She cannot imagine life without writing. She is the author of the best-selling Tunnels of Time Adventure Series, as well as Seeds of Hope: A Prairie Story and Moving Forward: The Journey of Paralympian Colette Bourgonje, to name a few. Her newest books are Gina’s Wheels, Mistasinîy: Buffalo Rubbing Stone and Skye Bird and the Eagle Feather, which she feels are Calls to Action toward the Reconciliation of all Saskatchewanians and Canadians. Mary loves being physically active and enjoys biking, roller blading, skiing and kayaking. She also enjoys talking to people of all ages about writing – their writing and her own.
Currently, Mary is teaching a Master's course at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. It is the Canadian Children's Literature Course and it is her favourite class to teach! What an honour to be able to explore, discover and share her love of Canadian kids and YA books with those in her class. There are so many wonderful Canadian books out there! Mary also reads and reviews books for CM: Canadian Review of Materials. https://www.cmreviews.ca. You can check out Mary's book reviews, or look for a good book to read on their website.
