If you are looking for a heart-warming story to read to your kids, or if you have a 9-12 year old who loves animals, this is the book for them! I reviewed this book in the spring for CM: Canadian Review of Materials - https://www.cmreviews.ca/
I enjoyed reading this wonderful story! Coop is an old, somewhat set-in-his ways dachshund who has just been adopted into a new family, since his old master passed on. Coop is adjusting, and the family is adjusting, too. The family, which consists of Mom, Zach and Emma, have just moved into a new house in a different town and only Mom seems happy about it. Zach is being bullied at school, and his attitude carries on at home. He and Mom always seem to be arguing with each other. Then Mom decides to turn their new house into a boarding house and have strangers live in the house with them! What is Mom thinking? (And I didn’t even talk about the crows in the story yet! To learn about the crows, read the book and/or the book review!)
The story is written by award-winning Winnipeg author Larry Verstraete. Larry does a fantastic job of weaving the themes of loss and grief, bullying, and knowledge of crows into a moving yet often times funny story.
